Tampa Traumatic Brain Injury Attorneys

Traumatic Brain Injuries are surprisingly difficult to diagnose given the devastating impact they can have on a personal injury victim.

Traumatic Brain Injury is can be just as devastating as it sounds. Yet for a serious sounding injury, it can be surprisingly difficult to identify.

We see Traumatic Brain Injuries result from personal injury cases where there is a significant impact of the head against a hard surface. Specifically, we see this injury in auto accidents with head strikes, slip and falls, and workplace injuries. And it is more common than previously believed, with approximately 1.4 million people suffering traumatic brain injury yearly.

Undiagnosed brain trauma, unfortunately, can lead to scarring on the brain that can affect the ability to think. We urge our clients who have suffered significant head impact in any accident to push for a Brain scan just to be sure the impact is not causing damage to the brain.

Types of Traumatic Brain Injury

Trauma to the head can lead to any of the following brain injuries:

Skull Fractures: Your skull is strong but it is not bulletproof. A forceful impact can cause the skull to fracture. Repair can often require surgery.

Concussions: We know now that concussions, which are caused by the soft brain impacting against the hard skull, can cause irreversible brain damage that can degrade with age. Concussions are most common in auto and motorcycle and truck accidents when the head hits a hard surface inside the vehicle.

Hematomas: A hematoma is like a brain bruise. Hematomas are diagnosed with the help of a brain MRI.

Diffuse Axonal Injury: Sometimes the impact can cause small, micro-injuries that scatter throughout the brain. We call these injuries diffuse axonal injuries.

Signs of Trauma to the Brain

Headaches and dizzyness are common signs of brain trauma.

If you or a loved one have been in an accident where there was trauma to the head keep an eye out for the following symptons:

Dizzyness:

Nausea

Vertigo

Inability to track with your eyes

Headaches and Pressure

When the brain is injured the body wants to push fluid around the brain to protect it. The problem with this response is that the skull is hard and not malleable. Thus if there is too much swelling in the brain the brain can be damaged even further.

I've seen commercials about calling a law firm if I was in an accident. But I did not know what to expect or how the process worked. I hired Christian and he let me know from the very beginning that everything was going to be ok. I just had to focus on getting better (I was in a head on collision and I back and neck pain immediately), and his team took care of everything. I did not need to call for updates because the team at Denmon Pearlman kept me updated. I would be more than happy to chat with anyone who is considering hiring an injury attorney to let them know how great my experience has been with Denmon Pearlman.
